September 2008 Class Schedule

Dear Customers,

Our beautiful but brief Wyoming summer has flown by at the speed of light and as we look at the calendar it’s time to think about fall and winter accessories again.  Janice will be teaching the “Two at a Time Circular Socks”.  It may sound daunting if you don’t consider yourself a good knitter, but if you can cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease and cast off you really are ready to try this technique.  In this class you’ll be using a heavy sock yarn that will knit up very quickly into warm winter socks.  Rhonda is offering one of her most popular classes, “Felted Hats”.  Go funky, classy, Western or wild, but go in style!  These hats are warm, fun to make and easy to personalize.  No wonder this remains one of our most requested classes.  Wire remains one of the most popular materials to work with and this month we have three classes to help you advance your wire-working skills.  In “Create Your Own Findings”  Dianne will show you how to design and make clasps, ear wires and other custom made findings to set off your wire creations.  This class is also appropriate for people who do mostly stringing and would like to have custom findings.  De will be teaching  “Elegant Wire Wrapped Earrings”, a technique that uses beads rather than cabochons.   This design would also work well for a small pendant. “Bead Chain” is a great class for beginning and intermediate wire working.  If you haven’t been able to make nice loops or wraps, or make them consistently then this class will help you with that.  We will also work on scrolls and s-links.  To round out the month Patricia will be teaching “Spiral Stitch Bracelets”.  Patricia’s designs are always precise and elegant.  Let her help you achieve the same look with this versatile and fun off-loom bead weaving technique.  When the new book Knit to be Square arrived, Rhonda was so inspired by the gorgeous designs that she immediately planned a class. The “Knitted Mitered Squares”, or domino designs knit up quickly and can then be transformed into every imaginable accessory. As always we are offering our “Jewelry Basics” class for those of you wanting to get started in the exciting world of jewelry making.

New Class Policies

Payment for class is due at the time of registration. You may register in person, by mail, by phone, or from the web site.  Phone or web registrations need to be followed up by payment in person, or by check through the mail. Cancellation on the part of the student must be received two days prior to class to receive a refund. Cancellations after this point are non-refundable. The fee may be transferred to another class or the funds may be used as store credit. Classes require at least three students to be held. If a class is cancelled by the shop or instructor the fee will be transferred to another class or refunded as store credit. Special workshops with guest instructors can not be refunded unless the class is cancelled by the shop or the teacher, in which case a full refund will be given.

New Arrivals

Introducing Ella Rae

A 100% wool yarn available in 3.5 oz. skeins and a  large array of vibrant colors.  It felts beautifully and is perfect for knit or crochet. It gives wonderful stitch definition to techniques like cables knitting. 

New beading products: 

Flex-rite is a great new product from Bead Smith that incorporates the high quality feel of Soft Flex with the lower price of Beadalon. It is available in several colors and diameters.  Also introducing a new combination from Jablonex, Czech Fire Polished glass mixes with matching size 11 mini-hanks.  These are very economical and are a wonderful way to add new colors to your beading palette.

Our Birthday!

We have done a lot of work on rearranging the shop and have several new lines of inventory in addition to those mentioned.  September 19^th marks the two year anniversary of Prairie Wind at the present location.  We’ll be celebrating with birthday cake and special discounts so please come join us.
